Solar

Khepri

ḫprj
The rising sunBecomingRenewal

How it changed

Not a god so much as an hour. The sun is Khepri at dawn, Ra at noon and Atum at dusk, one thing in three phases. The scarab was chosen because it rolls a ball of dung across the ground and its young appear from it, which looked like matter generating itself. The name is built on the verb ḫpr, to come into being, so the god, the beetle and the word for existence are the same sound.
