What it is
The fullest surviving narrative of the succession dispute, running eighty years of divine litigation before a tribunal, complete with bribery, shapeshifting and open comedy at the gods' expense.
Read it with this in mind
It is satirical and late. Using it as evidence for what Egyptians believed a thousand years earlier is the mistake nearly every popular retelling makes.
