How it changed

A Canaanite warrior goddess adopted in the New Kingdom and especially favoured by Ramesses II, who named a daughter and a favourite dog for her. In Egypt she was made a daughter of Ra and paired with Set, and she kept the ferocity she had in Ugaritic myth. She is one of several Levantine deities the Egyptians took in wholesale rather than translating into an existing figure.
