How it changed
A frog goddess of the delivery room, chosen because the Nile's frogs bred in uncountable numbers as the flood receded, which read as life multiplying. She was thought to quicken the last stage of labour, and Middle Kingdom birth amulets and the wands waved over mother and newborn carry her. In the tale of the royal births she is among the goddesses who attend, alongside Khnum forming the child at his wheel.
