Onuris
jn-ḥrtGreekOnouris, the Greek form of jn-ḥrt; identified with Ares
How it changed
His name means he who brings back the distant one, and the distant one is the wandering Eye of the sun god, the lioness who leaves for Nubia. Onuris is the hunter sent to fetch her home, which fuses him with Shu and makes his consort the lioness Mehit. A war god by extension, since the hunt for a dangerous goddess and a military campaign looked alike, and the Greeks identified him with Ares.
