What it was

The temple of Horus of Behdet, built over about 180 years from 237 BCE. Its walls carry the Triumph of Horus, a ritual drama of the god putting down rebellion, and long inscriptions describing the temple's own founding.

The most completely preserved major temple in Egypt, buried in sand until the 1860s, which is exactly why it survived.
