How it changed

The snake on the front of every royal crown in Egyptian art. She is placed on the king's brow so that she is looking outward at whatever approaches, spitting fire at his enemies, which makes the crown a weapon rather than an ornament. Her name means the green one, from the papyrus of the Delta, and it is the same root as the wedjat eye.
